You can also walk to the harbour at Puerto del Carmen along the coastal path from your cheap holiday in Puerto Calero in about 25 minutes.

From Puerto Calero marina you can take catamaran cruises to the Papagayo beaches, incorporating dolphin and whale spotting; submarine safaris and water taxis to Puerto del Carmen. In addition, the surrounding waters are populated with blue marlin and tuna and there is a good choice of sport fishing trips available to enjoy on a holiday to Puerto Calero.

You don't have to enter the water to enjoy the Marina in Puerto Calero though, it's a great place to be, by day or by night, chilling with a coffee or something stronger, admiring the boats and enjoying the general atmosphere. Heading south-west out of Puerto Calero you can walk along the coastal track into the small seaside village of Playa Quemada. The walk is approx 3km and a little rough in places but you will have great views of the Los Ajaches mountains and the beautiful blue sea along the way. Upon reaching Playa Quemada you can relax on the secluded black sand beach or enjoy a traditional Canarian meal in one of the delicious fresh fish restaurants.

Another great way to see some of the Canarian countryside is a horse-riding or camel safari from Lanzarote A Caballo. The centre also runs paint-balling and off road buggy tours and is located approx 3.5km inland from Puerto Calero, on the roundabout for Yaiza and Playa Quemada.

Nearby attractions to Puerto Calero:
A little further inland from your holiday in Puerto Calero, the La Geria Wine Region (11km) is a remarkable sight in itself, a vast area smothered in semi-circular walled pits, in which the grapevines grow. Whilst on your holiday in Puerto Calero, if you wish to learn more about wine production in such an unlikely landscape, or indeed sample the finished product, you can take a guided tour at one of the bodegas.
